A draft I forgot to post.
Back in early February Josse and I led a PD session on blog based portfolios. The second session is in a few days. The ideas that led me to try this came from the thoughts of a few people and my personal experiences. Another draft I hope I will post!
In my mind the first session had a few goals:
- to begin a conversation about using blogs as portfolios.
- to get response from colleagues on some of the benefits/hurdles we might face.
- to create a professional learning group that discusses the use of portfolios at SSIS (though I think we are already doing that)
Although there were some things I would do differently (explaining the transition from a working portfolio to a showcase portfolio) the feedback we were given was positive. Also there is interest in ongoing professional development dealing with portfolios.
This week, we will give the first of a number of sessions and the 21 porto_eets who have signed up will:
- better understand how blogs work
- begin creating their own portfolio
- + I get to satisfy my inner WordPress (geek) to create a series of PD portfolio posts giving me the opportunity to understand the organize series plugin.
