Done Poorly

Just like the last time. I read a series of posts that hit me with the same message. About the need to keep trying despite knowing I find it difficult to become fully engaged. A need to slowly increase how I share as sharing will help me better understand.

In the post Learning About Blogs (god it was a great one) some of the excuses felt like mine:

I am not a good writer/ I don’t like writing
I don’t have time

Just Write
Just Write (Image via RottenTomatoes.com)

Then in the same post ended up on another blog where Karl Fisch suggests “Just Write Poorly. In Public. Every Day.

Finally from twitter read the thoughts of @FAKEGRIMLOCK, the king of the ALLCAPS, about what I really need to do.

FIRST THING DISRUPT SELF

EVERYONE GOOD AT SEE CAN’T. EVERYONE LIVE IN WORLD FULL OF IMPOSSIBLE.

EVERYTHING THAT MATTER IMPOSSIBLE UNTIL SOMEONE DO IT ANYWAY.

STOP BEING EVERYONE. STARE AT WHY NOT UNTIL IT GIVE UP AND BECOME HOW TO.

STARTUP IS DO THING EVERYONE HAVE EXCUSE NOT TO.

VISION IS STOP EXCUSES, MAKE FUTURE INSTEAD.

He writes about startups but when I read a blog post with some of his wisdom I think of education, technologypassion and in this case just sticking with it.

So I will keep trying to build a habit, even if done poorly, as I believe it will help me become:

a better writer FOR them (to teach/coach/facilitate)
a more transparent learner
more aware of my own learning journey

I mean how can I expect that my students do it  if I don’t.
