Finished with the Interactive Fiction unit. I must admit I had a lot of fun with this one.
Using the interactive fiction software Quest, trying out EverWeb, testing using gDrive to host a web site (something kids will use next year) creating screencasts and editing them in iMovie I learnt a lot!
The last little while the kids have played each others games then add comments, questions and suggestions for each game in a Moodle forum. Nice timing as we are getting under three classes left this year.
This worked a lot better than I had thought. A real worthwhile assessment of each others work. Kids realized that maybe their game was to simple and they could have done more. I had a number of groups ask if they could incorporate some of the suggestions others had into their game and upload a newer version. A few simply wanted to improve their game after they saw the work others had done.
Will need to do more of that next semester and do it a bit earlier.
