I started using a co-hosted server and my own domain six years ago. At that time I used it mainly for my blog. As time went on I used it to trial different web applications but, more and more, this server did not have everything needed to do this. So over the past two weeks I have moved everything I have from my first server site to another. This is part of my attempt to reclaim some of my online content.
Back in my WordPress 2.5 days I remember what it was like moving blogs. Playing with MYSQL tables creating new databases and more. This is a lot easier now.
To do this I used the Duplicator plugin. Add this plugin to your existing blog and moving a blog from one domain to another takes few steps:
- install the Duplicator Plugin
- click on the create package tool and wait a while
- download the installer file and the package file
- go to your new domain and create an empty data base
- upload the installer file and the package file to your new domain
- browse to your installer file and wait
- save permalinks and it’s done
Your old blog is in a new domain and ready to use!
Added a few slides cause I just like pictures.
