Planning For September

I’ve spent the year trying out flipped instruction with my Math 8 class. As the end of the year gets closer I am getting more comfortable with the direction I will go in next year. I am planning on using four main tools to help me create flipped mastery based units. I think that these tools will allow me to create a very individualized program and help me create an organizational structure that will make tracking less time consuming.

The tools:

  1. K12.org- this is actually a few different tools from one organization:
    1. Flexbooks– to create a customized online textbook that better meets the direction we will go in with Math 8 at SSIS.
    2. BrainGenie– more questions, more support video and quick student tracking (as you can see below).
    3. FlexMath– provides lessons, examples, additional questions. ( I have linked to my current Math 8 topic)
  2. IXL another question bank that also allows me to provide questions, support explanations and quick student tracking
  3. Explain Everything – To create short instructional videos to deliver content.
  4. Doceri Desktop – Use this as a whiteboard to go over content that the students are having difficulty with in small group and individual settings. This allows me to display examples on the overhead. More importantly it also allows me to create a video of the discussion and examples that I can then export and make available for student review and use.

As I mainly blog to help me deal with my rapidly declining memory I plan on looking at each of the above in more detail so I have a nice go to place  for me to get the next school year started from!
