I was talking about iPads and Chromebooks with our HS tech facilitator Jeff today. He just bought a Chromebook and he was comparing the prices with an iPad. He also mentioned that some of the offline chrome tools had improved. This was a day that I used Noteshelf to take notes, with embedded photos, of the Critical Friends PD that I was at. When I wanted to also keep an audio record of Francis, our main facilitator, and take notes at the same time using my stylus I used Notability. Earlier in the day I was showing the capabilities of Doceri Desktop to a few people.
The chromebook looks cool but I am not sure it will do everything I want. Although there is a price difference the iPad will do this and a lot more.
Did look at offline gDrive later in the day. Make me wonder why we still use Word on our teacher computers or LibreOffice on the student netbooks? Maybe because it is part of the default Ubermix image and we really have not thought about the educational use of the software? Not sure.
