But it is an important part of the type of work I do. Those two comment feed methods I gave you work really well and the beauty of it is the coding has all been done for you. I ended up using Feedwordpress, and a tag based blog post with cets_EmbedRSS to pull the students comments into the post. Those widgets look like what I was talking about though. Thanks Sue,

Regarding subscribing to student comments you could try either <a href="http://premium.wpmudev.org/project/recent-global-comments-feed" rel="nofollow">Recent Global Comments Feed</a> or <a href="http://premium.wpmudev.org/project/recent-global-comments-widget" rel="nofollow">Recent Global Comments Widget</a> on your WordPress MU install. Regarding subscribing to student comments you could try either Recent Global Comments Feed or Recent Global Comments Widget on your WordPress MU install.
